How to Do a Glossy Smoky Eye
(Shirt: Smoky Tee)
There's a gorgeous galaxy 🌌 of smoky eye styles out there in the cosmetics cosmos, and as you can probably imagine...I love them all.
One of my favorite varieties is the glossy smoky eye. It's equal parts messy, rock 'n' roll, and kinda glam at the same time, and it's a great way to mix up your smoky eye game.
Best of all? It isn't hard to do at all!
First, you start with your standard-issue smoky eye (here's one of my 10-minute versions), but don't spend too much time layering or blending it because everything will get muddled together when the gloss gets into the mix.
Here I'm wearing what's pretty much my everyday look now -- a satin brown and a taupe eyeshadow mixed and blended together on my lids with a touch of bronzer swept into the crease, smudged liner, and a couple coats of mascara.
Once you have the smoky eye done, grab your eye gloss. Lots of different brands make them (sometimes they're referred to as "multi-use gloss"), but my go-to at the moment is NARS Redemption.
It's a glossy golden coral with multicolored glitter, and it functions as an eye gloss, a face highlighter and a lipgloss (among other things). Big plus: It doesn't feel heavy or sticky.
To use it, I'll typically dab a bit on the back of my hand and work from there. This way I don't pick up any of the eye makeup I'm already wearing and stick it back in the tube with the wand.
Next, load a small amount of the gloss on a finger, and gently tap (don't swipe!) the gloss on your lids.
Lastly, step back and admire your glossy smoky eyes!
Remember that eye gloss is designed to scoot around, so some of the product will most certainly migrate into your crease.
If/when it does, no biggie. Just say, "I meant for it to do that." 😉
What are you waiting for? Gloss to it!
Smoky lids all day,
Karen
